I haven't blogged in a while but have been certainly busier than usual with getting all my gear together for student teaching be it last minute papers, homework, and/or sending in Praxis scores in a timely manner. Well, that and I misplaced my camera somewhere in all my bags from the move to the new apartment and being single then suddenly unsingle in the past few months. Certainly odd. In any case, I picked up the new Stephanie Pearl-McPhee book and it's quite good from the get-go. It's a welcome break to find something non-education related to read as well.

In any case, I'm still puttering around through projects from before and I thought to add to my WIPs a new one that hasn't gone so well. I tried knitting up a green and tumeric colored scarf from the Uncle Argyle Scarf from the Son of a Stitch and Bitch...uh, yeah, tumeric-it's sorta a yellow-green shade that reminds me of curry...and it hasn't gone so well. Let's just say it has been frogged already three times and that's one time too many before I have to figure out something else to knit up as a present for the new boy come Christmas. It was daring try but it was the least I could do given that his patience for me in a knitting store is infinite and he honestly does try to offer vague suggestions on colors and content of yarn. It's definitely worth rewarding with a scarf actually made of wool for Christmas.
Today was Sweetest Day. It's some sort of Mid-West holiday a'la the "Second Coming of Valentine's Day." One of his friends is having a party so we'll be heading to that. I'm debating bringing my knitting or not depending on how the night goes but me thinks it might be a bit rude of me to break out my knitting around non-knitters. A shame given that I'm nearly done with my pink Juno Regina. I did manage to find a picture of the colorway that my Juno is in and since I can't find my camera...well, this will have to do from what I found online as a reference point.

I can't wait to finish it up to wear with my brown jacket. Autumn just seems to be the perfect knitting season to go to your LYS and take a look at what's what before winter. Don't get me wrong, winter is an excellent season to knit for but the chances of me finishing up whatever article that I've started in January to wear before spring is rather slim and once things start to thaw in April I'm then in the mood to toss off the shackles of heavier and darker shades of wool for the light and lacy joys of the brightest spring colorways. For me I have to start right now for the heavy dark stuff to enjoy in winter and start up on light and lacy in winter if I'm able to enjoy anything I knit in Wisconsin in the season that I desire.
Speaking of desires...once in a while I like to walk through Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters here in Madison when September and October roll around. I usually never buy a thing from either store. Let's be honest but 40-50 dollars for a knit scarf or hat in mostly acrylic isn't what I want to pop down for. With that said, the visit out to either store does give me a good idea on what the upcoming trend is on knit clothes and accessories. I've got ideas already for what to do with a large number of yarn I have stashed away. I really should find some pictures of the cute stuff they've got out right now. I'm incredibly pleased that cardigans are making a return for the season along with warm legwarmers and cabled beret hats. I've got patterns I can try for with that in mind. Yes, this will be an excellent knitting season for me then.
